Kamran Baig
Founding Director, IGCSE Business
Kamran has nearly three decades of experience in international education, having worked with British, American, and other curricula. He has held positions as department leader, curriculum coordinator, principal, and director. At Lucerne International School, he provides the strategic leadership of the school, oversees staff and teacher management, financial matters, school development, and long-term planning. Kamran is also researching the applications of blockchain in education and the integration of AI into personalised learning environments. He believes in holistic education and preparing students for the realities of their futures as digital natives.
Siobhán Gleeson
Academic Principal, Exams Officer, IGCSE English Language, IGCSE History, GCSE & A Level Psychology
Siobhán has over 17 years of teaching experience in Switzerland. She is passionate about creating a supportive, creative, and challenging environment where every student can thrive. As Academic Principal & Exams Officer, she oversees student academic progress, subject pathways, exam entries, and timetable coordination. She also supports colleagues in ensuring that no child feels unseen, regardless of subject or level. Outside the classroom, she enjoys running, hiking, reading, and travelling.
Dr Andrei Shved
Learning Coach, IGCSE & A Level Biology, Chemistry, Physics
Originally from Belarus, Andrei studied Chemistry at Moscow State University before completing his PhD at ETH Zurich. He later earned his iPGCE through TES and the University of East London. At LIS, he teaches across the sciences and serves as Learning Coach, supporting students’ academic progress and goal setting. His teaching aims to share the beauty of science and challenge students to think critically. Outside of school, he volunteers with Science Olympiads and enjoys ice-skating, travelling, and exploring Swiss nature.
Mason Cole
Learning Coach, IGCSE & A Level English Literature, English Language, History, Politics, Geography, EPQ
Mason holds an MA in Politics and Contemporary History from King’s College London and a BA in History from the University of Southampton. At LIS, he teaches across the Humanities and serves as Learning Coach, supporting students’ academic progress, goal setting, and university applications. He is passionate about sharing his love of History and inspiring young people to think critically about the past and present. Outside school, he is an avid football fan and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen.
Polina Weizenegger
Admissions and Communications Manager
Polina manages admissions, marketing, and communications at Lucerne International School, serving as the first point of contact for families. She oversees the full admissions process, events, open days, and school communications. With a degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from Lomonosov Moscow State University and over five years’ experience in international education, she brings expertise in enrolment management and stakeholder communication. She is passionate about building trust with families while supporting the school’s growth.
Carmen Neamtu
Administrative Assistant
Carmen supports the smooth daily running of Lucerne International School through her administrative work. She assists with invoices, certificates, official documents, and coordination, ensuring that both families and staff receive timely and accurate support. Carmen is multilingual (German, English, Romanian, Portuguese) and enjoys working in an international environment where she can support students, parents, and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, spending time in nature, and being with family and friends.
Markus Schmidli
External Business Manager
Markus is a certified Swiss economist and HR specialist with extensive experience in finance, personnel management, and business operations. As the Owner and Managing Director of CFO Treuhand AG, he supports organisations as an outsourced CFO, strengthening their financial and strategic foundations. At Lucerne International School, Markus oversees financial planning and compliance, ensuring transparency and sustainability. He believes that collaboration, trust, and professionalism are the cornerstones of every successful team.
Dr Marco Antei
A Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics & Physics
Marco studied Mathematics at the University of Milan, completed his PhD at the University of Lille, and earned his Habilitation at the University of Nice. He is passionate about making abstract concepts accessible and inspiring students to see the beauty of mathematics and physics in everyday life. Beyond the classroom, he enjoys the sea, walking with his dog, pizza, and spending time with friends.
Dr Panna Miskolczi
GCSE Mathematics
Panna studied in Hungary and holds a master’s degree in applied mathematics, a master’s degree in teaching mathematics, and a PhD in Business and Management, with research focused on risk measures. She has several years of teaching experience across a broad range of subjects and student groups. Panna strives to deliver knowledge precisely and effectively through creative and innovative methods. Outside the classroom, she enjoys travelling, hiking, playing basketball, and solving jigsaw puzzles.
Berni Fässler
IGCSE & A Level German
Berni teaches German at LIS. She focuses on meeting students where they are, carefully planning their journey to the final exam, and encouraging them along the way. An advocate of positive thinking and lifelong learning, her friendly mantra for students is: “a little German reading every day.”
Chika Baig
IGCSE Japanese
Chika completed her degree at Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. She is passionate about supporting her students’ development and ensuring they achieve their best in learning Japanese. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, swimming, and playing the piano.
Maria Boulter
English as an Additional Language (EAL), German as an Additional Language (GAL)
Maria holds a Master’s Diploma in Linguistics and a Foreign Languages Teacher Diploma from Moscow State Linguistic University, and later completed her PhD course in English Phonetics. She speaks English, German, French, Russian, and some Italian. Maria is passionate about helping students overcome obstacles while learning a new language and giving them the confidence to apply their knowledge. She also has extensive experience working with students with autism and other learning difficulties. Outside the classroom, she enjoys travelling, learning new languages, and spending time with friends and family.
Dr Andrew Gray
IGCSE & A Level Art and Design
Andrew focuses on honing creativity and supporting students in exploring their individual expression through a wide range of visual media. In addition to being a committed educator and researcher in the field of art and education, he is also a practising artist. Once a filmmaker, he is now a dedicated painter.
